Walmart Supercenter in Metairie donates to GFKC

The Walmart Supercenter in Metairie has joined Get Fit Kids Corner in the fight against childhood obesity by donating to help educate the community.

“We are very excited for the opportunity to partner with corporate members of the community to reach for the common goal of happier and healthier children,” said Get Fit Executive Director Leslie Hoffman.

Get Fit Kids Corner is a free membership program for children in the New Orleans area. Participating children are taught fun and motivating dance routines that are designed to help them exercise. The kids involved in the program film five-minute workout segments which are then aired locally on Get Fit with Leslie, and on other Cox channels.

In addition, with the help of volunteer nutritionists and physicians, Get Fit Kids Corner offers resources to teach families the importance and how-to’s of healthy eating and exercise habits.
The Walmart funds will be used in creating media to inform the community about Get Fit Kids Corner and of the importance of healthy kids.
